Dance at the Office at Circle Economy!

Hi there dear dancers,
I want to share a really beautiful and inspiring experience I had last Wednesday morning.

I was invited by Merve Güvendik, one of our enthusiastic participants in Danspiritual evenings, to give a 30 minutes "Dance at the Office" workshop at Circle Economy offered as a team building activity.

This is what her colleagues and herself said about the workshop:

- It was fun!

- It was joyful.

- I felt bound together.

- I felt like a child.

- I was tense, I am not tense anymore.

- Good start of the day.

- We felt very comfortable with each other while dancing.

Merve: "When I told them about Danspiritual, they thought it was too "spiritual" but today they found out that it is so much fun and it was not that spiritual. They liked it. Another thing they said is that they realised it really increased their energy and they could go easily through the day if they just start dancing like this for half an hour in the morning.
Last thing they said was that the flow of the dance, the whole event was so natural. We started just walking and everybody could step in so easily because the flow was just natural."

Thank you Merve and thank you Circle Economy participants. You made my day!
After that I was asked to give another workshop for a Circle Economy Congress in Nijmegen for 60 people... Looking forward to it ;)

Testimonials

"The Danspiritual evening on Monday has become an eagerly awaited start to my week. The lead-in mindfulness exercises gently ease me into a more centred state which allows me to let go and get right into dancing. I'm taken on a journey by the carefully collated playlists which stimulate all kinds of emotional, spiritual and physical responses in me: sometimes I feel serene and move gently, letting the music infuse me and pulsate me along, then with other tracks the beats and rhythms surge through my body and I find myself bounding around with raw energy. The wonderful feeling I have afterwards stays with me for days."

"Participating in Danspiritual I remember very clearly the feeling of dancing alone but with others.
Sharing a long moment of total release, that goes on for so long that if you didn't let go from the beginning you can't avoid jumping on to the wave of energy during the session. It's wonderful. Go get lost in your own dance moves!"

Jon and Mila Kabat-Zinn

Dearest Dancers and Friends,

On Tuesday I had the fortune to attend a Mindfulness Congress here in Amsterdam where Jon Kabat-Zinn and his wife Mila were giving a workshop. As some of you may know, Jon is a biomedical scientist who created the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. This secular method uses a combination of mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and yoga to train people to be more focused on the present moment and develop a non-judgmental awareness on a daily basis. My experience with mindfulness has been amazingly helpful. Through meditation I had became more and more connected to my body sensations and I can now notice in the spot my negative thinking patterns which I have been struggling with for long. I learned that I could actually stop, observe and "choose" what to think or do in awareness. I had started focusing more on what it is positive in my life, learned to deal better with strong emotions, to the point that they have became rare, started cultivating compassion for myself and others, started this cherished dance project and in awe have seen transformed my relationship with my twenty-years-old son into one of bliss .

So that was my opportunity to show my gratitude to this incredible man who has brought meditation technics to the big public putting it in a scientific context. And I did!
He seemed to me a very kind, warm-hearted man, totally devoted to live his talk and to spread these powerful teachings that come from far in time and space. He has been a student of Buddhist teachers such as Thich Nhat Hanh and Zen Master Seung Sahn

That is the reason I integrate both dance and meditation, almost a redundancy because what can be more meditative than dancing? Anyway I have not got any complains so far so I keep starting our sessions with a short meditation and focusing in the fact that we breath and have a body! Yeah!

I think Jon and Mila would had loved to dance with us but I guess they would be gone next week ;)

As you can imagine tonight there'll be no dance but get ready for next week!
I will be waiting for you with more music to be danced at!

With love,
Patricia

Dear Danspiritual dancers and Danspiritual dancers to be,

Thank you for visiting my blog.
After six months of weekly organising this evening, I can tell that I feel very satisfied with the experience. The attendants, which are now becoming more, keep coming every week. They come from different work fields and countries. They have in common their love for dancing, having open minds, being life-lovers and the sweetest guys on earth!

During these months I have been trying different ways of working and I will possibly keep doing it. My music taste had refined and became wider.
I am really adoring doing Danspiritual and dance with you guys, so thank you once again for having joined the event and giving me your enthusiastic and supportive feedback!

I just have finished dancing my playlist for tomorrow.  Yes I try it!
...and it rocks, so if you can, come! You will certainly would not regret it.

With dancing love,

Patricia

Hi dearest dancers!
I want to thank everyone who participated in the last session for making that night so special! THANKS!

If you have ever joined us you might know that at Danspiritual we have a lot of fun and end up totally relaxed and not wanting to leave that state!

If we choose to meditate in between the sessions. Let's say 5 to 20 minutes everyday we can bring our well being to a higher level. Not that we won’t feel blue anymore but we might start being more conscious of why this is happening.  Be able to deal with strong emotions and to exercise what I find the most powerful tool for inner change: ACCEPTANCE of WHAT IS. And I mean NO matter WHAT IT IS. That is the hard part.

I am convinced that the power of dance is enormous and so it is our need to commune in a group to feel alive, accepted or even better loved and part of something bigger than ourselves. The reason I introduced mindfulness exercises in the sessions is because of the amazing positive results that this can bring to people in the form of awareness, creativity and health. These exercises in combination with dancing freely in a safe environment results into an experience that creates in my opinion a kind of resilience to negativity. Coming Monday I would like to give some more attention to meditation. Tell you a bit of my experience with it and of course: Dance dance & dance!

Do you love dancing and like to join a bunch of sweet fun people gathering together to enjoy themselves and take a little step further in developing a better contact with yourself and therefore with others? If yes is the answer join us.
I suspect you will love it!

Reconciliation

Inner peace is only reached when we accept our life as it is; when we have forgiven ourselves and others, no matter what we/they have done. It is a difficult task and in my experience it is not possible to do it in one go. It is a process that begins with the willing to change, to live better, to be happier, to leave out what stays on the way, the baggage that we carry from the past.

How can dance can help us setting some steps toward reconciliation and inner peace?

My plan next Monday is to dance in the light of compassion and understanding for ourselves and others. That is the only path that I know can bring us to forgiving and reconciliation.

Through dancing we tap into a blissful state of openness and non judgement. We connect with our higher selves where our wisdom resides.

Want to give it a try? Join us. At Dancepiritual, we have a lot fun. And joy is not only contagious but healing!

Looking forward welcoming you all as usual!
